چکیده

In the present scenario, aerospace and automobile industries depend on lightweight materials such as magnesium aluminum alloys because of their great balance between mechanical properties weight ratio. Despite these benefits during joining process dissimilar by welding, many challenges arises. The prominent one is related to low melting points metals which make it almost impossible using conventional arc welding techniques. To tackle this challenge, Friction Stir Welding (FSW) can be considered a promising candidate tool. study, demonstrate FSW performances two we have investigated AA 6061 Mg AZ 31 B built-in house modified milling machine. combinations joints were successfully joined embedding different conditions varying offset distance. evaluated conducting specific tests micro-hardness, tensile, impact tests, respectively. explain results, applied optical microscopy observation microstructure associated with bonding location. results prove that strength Welded much higher compared other techniques especially in terms metals.

Friction stir welding of dissimilar alloys – a perspective

Friction stir welding does not involve bulk melting of the components that are joined. This has inspired attempts to exploit it for joining materials which differ in properties, chemical composition or structure, and where fusion can lead to detrimental reactions. The purpose of this special issue of Science and Technology of Welding and Joining was to assess the status of friction stir welding...

Liquation Cracking of Dissimilar Aluminum Alloys during Friction Stir Welding

A liquation cracking mechanism of dissimilar Al alloys during the friction stir welding (FSW) is suggested in this study. To identify the mechanism, the precipitates were analyzed and Al-Mg-Cu phase diagrams were calculated. Electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) analysis and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) were also conducted. In the same manner as constitutional liquation, at high hea...

Friction Stir Welding Process Optimization: Experimental Methods

Introduction The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process is an innovative technique to join metals in the plasticity field, thus not reaching the melting temperature and consequently the liquid state as it happen in traditional welding processes. This feature of the FSW proved an enhancement of the fatigue behaviour and strength of the joints, leading some companies to adopt the process for the man...

Effect of friction stir welding parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of dissimilar AA2024-AA6061 joints

In the present study, to resolve the problems in fusion welding methods as well as to increase the strength, FSW method was used to join aluminum alloy sheets 6061 and 2024. Moreover, optimal parameters for joining of these two alloys were also taken into consideration. Various tool rotation speeds of 565, 950 and 1500 rpm were selected. For each tool rotation speed, two traverse speed variable...
